Coastal Protection
Coral reefs absorb up to 97% of incoming wave energy, protecting coastal communities from storm surge, erosion, and flooding. More than 100 million people worldwide live in coastal areas directly protected by reef systems.

Food Security
Reef fisheries are the primary protein source for over a billion people across the Asia-Pacific, Caribbean, and Pacific Island regions. In the Philippines, reef-dependent fishing supports more than 1.5 million small-scale fishing households.

Biodiversity and Medicine
Reefs cover less than 1% of the ocean floor but support 25% of all known marine species. Reef organisms are a proven source of compounds used in treatments for cancer, cardiovascular disease, inflammation, and viral infections including HIV.

Most environmental partnerships are difficult to verify. You give, something happens somewhere, and you receive a report twelve months later. We work differently, and we designed the organization specifically to give partners something better: documentation you can show.
Every mission filmed
We film each restoration dive from water entry to the last coral planted. Footage is published publicly and shared directly with partners. Your stakeholders can watch the work happen.
GPS-level accountability
Every coral fragment planted is GPS-recorded, photographed, and tracked individually at 6 and 12 months. Partners receive survival data for specific corals their funding supported.
Verified nonprofit status
U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 42-2691547, IRS determination effective May 22, 2026. All contributions are tax-deductible. Candid Silver Seal of Transparency holder.
Local-first operations
Our Director of Dive Operations and community coordinator are both based in Cebu. Science is guided by our local science partner. This is not outside expertise imposed on a community. It is community-led work.
Per-mission reporting
Partners receive a full mission report after every dive including footage, GPS coordinates, planting photos, coral fragment counts, and survival data. Not once a year. After every mission.
14-year strategic plan
Our published 2026 to 2040 strategic plan sets measurable targets across five pillars: reef monitoring, community livelihoods, marine protected areas, education, and sustainable funding. Long-term partners can fund specific pillars or phases.

Corporate CSR and Sustainability Partners
Companies with environmental sustainability commitments, net-zero targets, or ocean-focused CSR programs can sponsor specific reef restoration missions, coral nurseries, or equipment. We provide branded mission reports, co-branded documentation, footage for internal and external communications, and a verifiable carbon and biodiversity narrative backed by science. Corporate sustainability partnerships with Reef Without Borders connect your team to real, measurable ocean conservation outcomes.
Foundation and Institutional Partners
We actively seek grant partnerships from foundations focused on marine conservation, environmental education, community livelihoods, and biodiversity. We are a recognized 501(c)(3) with a published strategic plan, science partnership with our local science partner, and a commitment to per-mission reporting. Foundations can fund specific pillars of our strategic plan, specific geographic phases of our work in Cebu, or multi-year operational support. We tailor reporting to your foundation's requirements.
University and Research Partners
We welcome collaboration with marine biology departments, environmental science programs, and conservation research centers. Our work in Cebu generates baseline reef health data, coral survival records, and reef health progression data that has genuine scientific value. University partners can contribute research expertise, student fieldwork opportunities, and peer-reviewed publication pathways. In return we offer field access, real datasets, and co-authorship opportunities on published results.
Dive Industry Partners
Dive resorts, liveaboards, dive shops, and diving equipment brands have a direct commercial stake in healthy reefs. Dive industry partnerships with Reef Without Borders can take the form of equipment donations or loans, fundraising integrations at the point of sale, reef-friendly tourism co-branding, and joint programming for dive guests. We are specifically open to Cebu-based dive operators who want to be directly involved in the restoration of the reefs their guests dive.
Schools and Education Partners
We develop marine conservation curriculum for schools in Cebu and welcome partnerships with schools in the United States and internationally that want to connect their students to real reef restoration work. Education partners can sponsor student field visits to our restoration sites, integrate our educational materials into existing curriculum, and participate in our Adopt-A-Coral program as a class project. Environmental education partnerships are central to our long-term strategy for sustainable reef stewardship.
Government and Agency Partners
We work in close coordination with local government units in Cebu and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 7. We welcome government partnerships at the local, national, and international level that align with our reef restoration and marine protected area advocacy work. Government collaboration partnerships help ensure that the reefs we restore receive the legal protection needed to sustain recovery over the long term.
In-Kind and Equipment Donors
We accept in-kind donations of dive equipment, underwater cameras, monitoring instruments, safety gear, and marine science tools. In-kind donations are recognized on our website and in mission reports at their fair market value. Volunteer and Skills-Based Partners
We welcome skilled volunteers in marine science, underwater photography, communications, grant writing, web development, and data management. Volunteer partnerships can be remote or field-based at Kontiki, Mactan, Cebu. Field volunteers join our Reef Rescue dive team on restoration missions. Remote volunteers contribute directly to our communications, grant pipeline, and Reef Archive data management. See our Volunteer page for current openings.

These are the targets our 2026 to 2040 strategic plan sets across all five program pillars. Every partnership contributes to one or more of these outcomes, and every outcome is tracked, measured, and published.
How we measure success at the mission level
Well-managed coral restoration programs achieve fragment survival rates of 60 to 90 percent at 12 months. We measure survival at the individual fragment level, not as an aggregate. Partners receive actual survival data for specific coral fragments their funding placed in the water.
All results including setbacks and mortality are published. We do not edit our outcomes for appearance.

Partnership FAQ.
Yes. Reef Without Borders is a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity incorporated in Texas on May 18, 2026. Our IRS determination letter (Letter 947) was received May 22, 2026, effective that same date. EIN 42-2691547. All contributions are tax-deductible under IRC Section 170. We hold a Candid Silver Seal of Transparency.
There is no fixed minimum. A $6,000 bangka boat sponsorship is our most visible named asset. A $10,000 mission sponsorship funds one complete Reef Rescue dive. A $25,000 annual partnership funds one full year of work in a partner community. We are happy to discuss the right level for your organization's CSR budget and reporting requirements. We film every mission from water entry to the last coral planted and publish the footage publicly. Every coral fragment is GPS-recorded and photographed. Partners receive a full mission report after every dive, not once a year. Coral survival is tracked at 6 and 12 months and those results are sent to partners directly. Our financial controls require dual authorization for all expenditures above $2,500. Our accounts are CPA-managed. Form 990 will be published after our first complete fiscal year.
Yes. Corporate and foundation partners may use mission footage, coral planting photographs, and reef health data for internal communications, CSR reports, social media, and press releases with attribution to Reef Without Borders. We can provide co-branded versions of mission documentation on request. Specific usage rights are outlined in the partnership agreement.
Our science partner is a local marine science institution. We are open to additional research collaborations with universities in the United States, Philippines, and internationally. Research partnerships can involve access to our baseline reef health datasets, co-designed monitoring protocols, student fieldwork at Kontiki, Mactan, Cebu, and co-authorship on published results. Cebu-based dive operators are among the partners we most want to work with. You have direct daily access to the reefs we are working to restore and a commercial interest in their health. Dive industry partnerships can include fundraising integrations for your guests, reef-friendly tourism co-branding, equipment support for our dive team, and direct involvement in restoration missions alongside our team led by Dindo C. Yes. We are registered on Benevity, the largest corporate giving and matching platform, making it easy for employees of participating companies to donate and have their gifts matched. We are also set up to receive matching gifts from companies that run their own programs. Our first restoration site is Kontiki, Mactan, Cebu, Philippines. Mactan Island sits within the Coral Triangle, the most biodiverse marine region on earth. Our science partner is a local marine science institution. Our Director of Dive Operations, Dindo C. Paquibot, is based in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. As our field record grows, we plan to expand to Olango Island, the Camotes Islands, and eventually the Tanon Strait. See our Where We Work page for full details.
Yes, and we are transparent about that. Reef Without Borders incorporated in May 2026 and our first restoration mission is scheduled for Q4 2026. Our founder has 25 years of diving experience in Philippine waters. Our Director of Dive Operations has 20 years of professional reef experience in Cebu. Our science partner, UP Marine Science Institute, is a national leader in Philippine coral research. We are new as an organization but not new to these reefs. Partners who join now are founding partners who will be part of the documented history of this organization from its first dive.
