Atty. Maricar Joy S. Tañeda, CPA serves Reef Without Borders as Senior Advisor for Legal, Governance & Strategic Partnerships, bringing more than two decades of corporate law and executive leadership experience to the organization’s governance and partnership strategy.

Maricar earned her Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Saint Theresa’s College, graduating Cum Laude, before completing her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Cebu College of Law, where she graduated Cum Laude and placed third honors. She was a Charter Scholar and member of the Pioneer Class. She later pursued a Master of Laws at San Sebastian College-Recoletos Graduate School of Law.

She began her legal career at SyCip Salazar Hernandez and Gatmaitan, one of the Philippines’ leading law firms, before founding her own practice, The Legal & Consulting Firm of Atty. Maricar Joy S. Tañeda, CPA, in 2010. Through the firm, she has advised corporations across business process outsourcing, higher education, healthcare, real estate, banking, manufacturing, and insurance on business formation, contracts, governance, regulatory compliance, and HR policy, including full legal oversight of multinational company groups.

Maricar has held senior executive and directorship roles across a local group of companies, handling strategy, compliance, business development, operations, finance and tax, and human resources. She also devoted extensive oversight of legal matters across various jurisdictions of multinational clients with operations in Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia, and other countries. She leads as Director and Executive of family businesses engaged in private security services and manpower services.

A licensed attorney and Certified Public Accountant, she is a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines - Cebu City Chapter, the Federacion Internacional de Abogadas, and PICPA-Cebu Chapter, and previously served as officer of PALSCON-Visayas Chapter. Based in Cebu City, Maricar is a devoted mother of four who brings the same discipline and care to her family as she does to her clients and partners.
